Snowdon, Tents & Tears

One team, one mountain, and a mission that went far beyond the summit.
I’ve climbed a lot of mountains in my time - some with a rucksack, some with a bit more baggage - but few stick with me like this one.
Last week, we took a group of everyday legends from Blue Cube Travel up Snowdon. Some had never climbed a mountain before. Some had no idea what to expect. And some were quietly carrying more than we’ll ever know. But what they all had in common was this: they kept putting one foot in front of the other, and not a single one turned back.
A Partner That Walks the Talk

Before I get into the climb itself, I’ve got to tip my hat to Blue Cube Travel. They didn’t just sponsor a day out. They stepped up in a way that’s going to help veterans for years to come.
Their donation paid for a Base Camp tent and four one-man tents, which are now part of our core kit. They’ll be used on every future MindfulStep challenge - wherever we pitch up next. That means shelter, safety, and a place to reset at the end of a hard day for the veterans.
On top of that, the Blue Cube family- colleagues, friends, and loved ones - dug deep and raised money through Just Giving to support the whole climb. That kind of backing means the world to us. It’s not just cash. It’s belief. It’s people saying, "We’ve got your back."
One Mountain, Many Battles
The group was made up of all sorts - different ages, fitness levels, backgrounds. Some nervous, some excited, most of them somewhere in between. But once we set off, something beautiful happened. Climbing the mountain pushed them beyond the usual day-to-day, and they had to rely on each other in ways that went far deeper than office life. The same familiar faces, but now connected through shared effort, quiet encouragement, and real grit. There was laughter, of course. Always is with this lot, apparently. There were a few blisters, a couple of wobbly moments, and more than one set of tears. But not a single person gave up. Not one.
Our Mountaineers – The Steady Hands

I had the privilege of leading the team alongside three brothers I’d trust with my life - we’ve served together, laughed together, and come through more than a few storms as a team.
Out there on the slopes, our job wasn’t to shout instructions. It was to walk alongside, keep an eye out, know when someone needed a quiet word, a sugar snack, maybe even a story or two - and, of course, a steady stream of banter. That’s how we do things. Always will.
We’re not trying to turn people into mountaineers. We’re helping them remember who they are. And watching each of those climbers hit the top of that mountain - it reminded me why we do this. Every single time.
Legacy in the Canvas

The tents Blue Cube helped us buy are now part of our kit for every climb going forward. They’ll offer veterans a place to rest, recover, and regroup—no matter the weather, the mountain, or the moment. They’re more than just gear—they’re part of the journey.
To everyone at Blue Cube Travel, and to every single person who donated—thank you. You weren’t just part of this climb. You’re part of everything that comes next.
See you at the next base camp.
